Maestro hearing health program: Free hearing assessment
Did you know that May is Speech and Hearing Month? This is the perfect time to pay close attention to your hearing health and that of your loved ones.
Most of the time, hearing loss develops gradually. It is therefore often family and friends who first notice it. Signs of hearing loss include having trouble hearing and understanding in a group, a noisy environment or when watching TV.
The first step is to have a full hearing assessment with an audiologist. It is recommended to have a hearing assessment every two years after the age of 50. Even though wearing hearing aids is the best solution for most cases of hearing loss, there are other ways, such as communication strategies and assistive listening devices, to continue enjoying everyday activities.
As part of Speech and Hearing Month, hearing health professionals practicing in Lobe clinics want to raise awareness of the importance of hearing health. Throughout the month, they invite the population to take part in Hearing Health Information Days in various pharmacies across the province. These special days include a free hearing screening test*, which is the first step towards better hearing health. Marie-Josée Taillefer, Ambassador of Lobe clinics and of hearing health, will meet you in some of the pharmacies. Go to lobe.ca for all the dates of the pharmacy tour!
