Aux Écuries

SEASON 2024-2025

PROGRAMMING

MANÈGE-MOU

By MAMMIFÈRES September 24 – October 5, 2024

“Manège mou” is a choreography of vaguely robotic materials, a concert for soft things, a collection of fragments. Blending essay, song, and prose, it explores the relationship with the body, its pleasures, and its mortality.

In this blue world, with its suspended shapes and states, emerges a sensitive and tender self-narrative where we practice impermanence. Influenced by the thoughts of Maggie Nelson, Louky Bersianik, and Laurie Anderson, it’s wrapped in comforting covers of songs that accompany us.

A cultural mediation project in palliative care accompanies the writing of the show.

BEFORE THE LAST LEAF FALLS

By the collective FEUILLES DÉCHIRÉES October 22 – 26, 2024

Aouatef, Roxanne, and Camille embark on a quest to uncover their ancestors, Algerian, Belgian, and Hungarian. They embody key moments of their lives: childhood memories, love stories, and confidences. By living their grandmothers’ memories, they listen to those of the audience. The past and present meet, and these shared stories enrich our connections with our loved ones and grandmothers.

YOU ARE HERE

By LA SERRE – ARTS VIVANTS November 1 – 3, 2024

In partnership with Théâtre Aux Écuries, “YOU ARE HERE” is an intensive multidisciplinary creation residency for graduates of various performing arts programs and early-career artists with non-academic backgrounds. This meeting place allows young creators to discover and deepen their artistic practices. “YOU ARE HERE” serves as both a meeting space and a panorama of what is to come.

ZEN TALES FROM THE GARDEN

By THÉÂTRE DE LA PIRE ESPÈCE November 13 – 16, 2024

In “Zen Tales from the Garden,” the heroes are monks or samurais embodied by vegetables, fruits, or sweets, revealing their characters. The manipulators perform with assured and minimalist gestures, akin to a calligrapher or Japanese chef, making the performance both amusing and inventive.

LÉON THE LOSER

By THÉÂTRE DE LA PIRE ESPÈCE November 15 – 16, 2024

Léon is bullied by the neighborhood kids and decides to eat nails to become a train. This show, centered on discovering one’s inner strength, is driven by a high-flying physical performance.

YAHNDAWA’: WHAT WE ARE

By LES PRODUCTIONS MENUENTAKUAN + THÉÂTRE DU TRIDENT + THÉÂTRE NIVEAU PARKING December 5 – 14, 2024

“Yahndawa’: What We Are” reinterprets the life of Ludger Sarenhes Bastien and his Huron-Wendat descendants as a legend blending reality and fiction, spanning over a hundred years. At the heart of this narrative flows Yahndawa’, the majestic river capable of changing the course of lives and leading to possible healing.

H¡T!

By THÉÂTRE I.N.K. February 4 – 8, 2025

Inspired by the hip-hop world, “H¡T!” tells the story of Cody, aka CodyBeatz, who refuses to become a doctor and prefers making beats. Online, she meets Félix, aka Filou, a young rapper trying to escape bullying. Their collaboration confronts their aspirations and identities, leading to complications.

WIDOW’S MOODS

By THÉÂTRE DES TROMPES February 18 – March 1, 2025

The Widow Manchée, trapped in her wooden dress, can no longer fulfill her roles after her husband’s death. At the funeral, she shares family stories in a long speech, inviting the audience to dive into her memories and desires.

LANDSCAPES IN LINEAGE

By SYSTÈME KANGOUROU March 20 – April 5, 2025

In “Landscapes in Lineage,” a living room becomes a stage for Claudine and her daughter Romane, and then for other mother-child pairs. Everyday and strange moments transform the living room into a performance space, reflecting sensitive and contrasting states beneath the surface.

BECOMING A DAISY

By L’EAU DU BAIN April 4 – 6, 2025

“Becoming a Daisy” is a socio-political investigation where the family of L’eau du bain asks children about transforming into a daisy. Presented as part of the FILER DOUX micro festival, this performance explores a “becoming flower” inspired by children’s deep and ancient knowledge.
