At FADOQ, promoting physical activity has always been part of our DNA. We firmly believe in the importance of active aging as a key factor in maintaining good health as we grow older.

Together with our partners in the Coalition for the Future of Sport and Physical Activity in Quebec, we share an ambitious goal: to make Quebec the most active nation in the world. As part of this election campaign, we are calling on political parties to demonstrate a concrete commitment to this vision.
Our Executive Director, Jacinthe Roy, took part on September 3rd in a highly inspiring editorial roundtable hosted by La Presse, alongside Pierre Lavoie, co-founder of the Grand défi Pierre Lavoie; Dr. Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, physician and co-chair of the LDT Foundation; Bruno Marchand, Mayor of Quebec City; Sébastien Théberge, President of SPORTSQUÉBEC; and Geneviève Paquette, President and CEO of the Canadiens Children’s Foundation.
You can read in French Stéphanie Grammond’s editorial and journalist Marie-Ève Cousineau’s article, both of which provide an excellent summary of the discussions that took place during this meeting. The Coalition believes that physical activity, sport, and outdoor recreation must become a national priority, as they are powerful tools for preventing illness and improving overall health.
CASAPQ also issued a press release calling on political parties to take two concrete actions: to recognize sports, physical activity, and the outdoors as a national priority and as frontline tools for preventive health care, and to support an independent modernization task force leading to a new Quebec model.
Additionally, our President, Yves Bouchard, co-signed an open letter (in French) with 26 prominent figures from diverse backgrounds, including Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Janette Bertrand, and Pierre Lavoie. The message is simple: becoming the most active nation is the most unifying, cost-effective, and hopeful societal project we can offer to all Quebecers.
Add your voice to this movement by signing the open letter. The form is only available in French.
