The Canadian Dental Care Plan coverage has now been expanded to all age groups, provided that the eligibility criteria are met.
To be eligible, you must meet the following four criteria:
If you meet all the eligibility criteria, you can apply either online or by phone.
The federal government intends to send a letter to individuals who filed their 2024 tax return and who may be eligible for the plan, inviting them to submit an application. However, if you believe you meet the eligibility criteria, there is no need to wait for this letter to register.
Once your enrollment in the plan is confirmed, you will receive a letter containing your membership number, the effective date of your coverage, and your co-payment amount (if applicable). You will also receive a welcome kit from Sun Life, the claims administrator, along with a membership card. However, you do not need to wait for the card to receive treatment; you can attend your appointment with the letter confirming your enrollment (starting from the effective date of your coverage).
As a reminder, individuals aged 65 and older who were already enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan must renew their coverage each year to confirm that they continue to meet all the eligibility criteria.
